Business Travelers: Do you recommend Varga Bar for
Varga Bar has become a go-to place for meals at the bar. The food is always good, bartenders and crowd are friendly. Whenever I am in the mood for a good bar meal, with or without others, and want it close by I often choose Varga Bar. Eaten at the bar there many times, several of which where on quite stormy and snowy nights.
My most recent trip was Monday 2/13 around 8:15 pm. As usual the bartender greeted me warmly and got me a drink. Philadelphia 76ers game was on. The other patrons where friendly and chatted a bit. I had the turkey turkey and fires which was very good, never had the turkey burger before, nicely done. Fries are always good here plus the homemade ketchup is terrific, brings me back time after time. Large beer selection. Next time I’ll get a little more adventurous with the food selection. Nice calm, low-key experience, just what I wanted that night.
Not crowded because it was a Monday. When Varga gets crowded later in the week, eating at the bar can get a little tight with elbows poking and drink orders passing by. The bar faces the wall cutting off your view of the restaurant and the street through the often open windows. The TVs are high up at either end of the bar so you are sure to be craning your neck to watch. Classic bar stool seats.
Overall a solid place with consistently good food, interesting varied menu and nice people and bartenders. Gets hopping later in the week. I’ll be back.
